An acting police sergeant is warded at the hospital after he accidentally shot himself.
Ag Sgt Sunil Deo attached to Homicide Region III suffered a wound to his left hand.
He reported that around 2 pm on Tuesday, he was at his Penal home when he reached for his licensed Glock 19 pistol which was in a holster on a stand next to his bed.

He called his father-in-law who lives next door, then secured his firearm and sought treatment at the Siparia Health Facility.
Deo returned to his home with the investigating officers and they recovered a spent shell. They also took possession of his gun and 14 rounds of ammunition.
Deo was referred to the San Fernando General Hospital where he remains warded in a stable condition. Sgt Gosine is investigating.
