Pan Trinbago launched Panorama 2020 on Sunday at Hadco Phase II Groove Pan Theatre in Woodbrook.
In her welcoming address, Pan Trinbago President Beverley Ramsey-Moore spoke about the changes to the annual National Panorama competition.
Starting earlier for the first time to avoid clashing with over 200 Carnival events, Panorama 2020 will have its first preliminary on November 4, with the judging of Single Pan steelbands in panyards.
The finals are scheduled for the end of November.
Citing the late Merchant’s calypso Caribbean Connection, Ramsey-Moore reminded the large turnout that Merchant’s Caribbean Connection was held in Tobago and that the final of the National Panorama (Small Bands) will be held in Tobago in 2020.
Among the Carnival dignitaries in attendance were Port-of-Spain Mayor Joel Martinez, National Carnival Commission (NCC) CEO Colin Lucas and NCC Commissioner Rosalind Gabriel, as well as multiple Road March champion SuperBlue and Dread Wizard (Sharlan Bailey, son of late calypso icon Dr Winston Garland Bailey (Mighty Shadow).
In his address, Lucas complimented Ramsey-Moore on the innovations she and her committee have brought to the National Panorama competition and T&T Carnival.
Lucas said that the NCC was also introducing changes to Carnival 2020.
The live entertainment programme of the launch included 2019 National Panorama (Small Bands) champion T&T Regiment, Road Block, Melodians, First Citizens Supernovas and Phase II Pan Groove.
