Short­ly af­ter all mo­torists were grant­ed ac­cess to the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route on Wednes­day morn­ing, that ac­cess has been re­voked to al­low for nor­mal op­er­a­tions on the PBR.

No de­tailed ex­pla­na­tion was giv­en for the open­ing of the PBR, nor its clo­sure. How­ev­er, an emailed press re­lease from the Min­istry of Trans­port and Civ­il Avi­a­tion to me­dia hous­es at 8am said “Due to un­fore­seen cir­cum­stances en­coun­tered this morn­ing, mo­torists cur­rent­ly on the PBR will be giv­en an op­por­tu­ni­ty to ex­it the route. As such, nor­mal PBR op­er­a­tions will re­sume at 8.00am sharp.”

Asked for clar­i­ty, Min­is­ter of Trans­port and Civ­il Avi­a­tion Eli Za­k­our told Guardian Me­dia via what­sapp that a pole was ob­struct­ing part of the high­way, re­sult­ing in the PBR’s open­ing. He ex­plained, “the west­bound lane by Ma­coya was blocked ear­li­er; how­ev­er, the high­way is now clear, and the PBR has re­sumed nor­mal op­er­a­tions.”
