Eight of 11 people arrested by police in the southern division were placed on placed on Preventative Detention Orders (PDOs).
Police said 11 people were arrested during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation conducted in the Gasparillo district during the period June 6 to 15, 2026.
The TTPS, in a statement issued yesterday, said the operation was conducted to curb and detect the increase in home invasions, robberies, firearm related offences, break-ins and drug related offences in the district.
Police said substantial efforts were made on apprehending offenders responsible for the crimes committed.
During the exercise, the statement said, officers arrested eleven male suspects, ages 16 to 34, of Gasparillo, Golconda, Point Fortin and Williamsville.
Following intensive and in-depth investigations, applications for Preventative Detention Orders were made, with eight being granted and three pending.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Bertie, and W/Supt Bridglal, spearheaded by ASPs Ramsaran, Pacheco, Chulhan and Ragbir and supervised by Insp (Ag) Alexander and also involved officers of Gasparillo Police Station and the Southern Division Task Force.
