Eight of 11 peo­ple ar­rest­ed by po­lice in the south­ern di­vi­sion were placed on placed on Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­ders (PDOs).

Po­lice said 11 peo­ple were ar­rest­ed dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led an­ti-crime op­er­a­tion con­duct­ed in the Gas­par­il­lo dis­trict dur­ing the pe­ri­od June 6 to 15, 2026.

The TTPS, in a state­ment is­sued yes­ter­day, said the op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed to curb and de­tect the in­crease in home in­va­sions, rob­beries, firearm re­lat­ed of­fences, break-ins and drug re­lat­ed of­fences in the dis­trict.

Po­lice said sub­stan­tial ef­forts were made on ap­pre­hend­ing of­fend­ers re­spon­si­ble for the crimes com­mit­ted.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, the state­ment said, of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed eleven male sus­pects, ages 16 to 34, of Gas­par­il­lo, Gol­con­da, Point Fortin and Williamsville.

Fol­low­ing in­ten­sive and in-depth in­ves­ti­ga­tions, ap­pli­ca­tions for Pre­ven­ta­tive De­ten­tion Or­ders were made, with eight be­ing grant­ed and three pend­ing.

The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Si­mon, Supt Bertie, and W/Supt Bridglal, spear­head­ed by ASPs Ram­saran, Pacheco, Chul­han and Rag­bir and su­per­vised by In­sp (Ag) Alexan­der and al­so in­volved of­fi­cers of Gas­par­il­lo Po­lice Sta­tion and the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.
