A Venezuelan man who attempted to intervene in a fight at a bar in Freeport on Sunday, remained hospitalised in a serious condition yesterday.
Police said the 36-year-old, who lives at Mission Road, Freeport, was at the bar when a fight broke out among a group of patrons who had been gathered on the road in front of the establishment.
As he attempted to stop the fight, the victim was attacked by a group of Venezuelan nationals, armed with broken bottles, who dealt him several stabs about the body.
Fellow patrons rushed the victim to the Couva Health Facility, where he was treated and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital. He was in a serious but stable condition last night.
