A 41-year-old man died two days after being run over by a car driven by a close female relative following an altercation.
Police said Narindra Parriman, a surveyor, of Goodman Trace, Rock Road, Penal, passed away around 10 pm Monday, hours after he was discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital.
However, officers are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how to proceed with their investigation.
According to a police report, around 10. 20pm on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Parriman's house.
When they arrived at the location, they observed that Parriman was injured. He told police that he and his 29-year-old female relative were drinking alcohol at his home when they got into an altercation. She got into her car, a silver Nissan Versa, in an attempt to leave but he stood in front of the vehicle.
The woman drove forward and struck Parriman who fell on the ground. She then drove over him. The EHS ambulance took him to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was treated and then discharged on Monday. However, around 10 pm that day, he complained of chest pain and the female relative took him to the Siparia District Health Facility where he died.
An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre. Guardian Media was told that the woman was questioned but is not in police custody.
Officers from the Penal Police Station are investigating.
