Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar is out of the coun­try un­til Wednes­day to at­tend a fu­ner­al, with Works and In­fra­struc­ture Min­is­ter Jear­lean John serv­ing as Act­ing Prime Min­is­ter in her ab­sence.

The in­for­ma­tion was con­firmed by the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter short­ly be­fore her de­par­ture.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, the Prime Min­is­ter is at­tend­ing the fu­ner­al of a fam­i­ly mem­ber.

How­ev­er, when Guardian Me­dia sought fur­ther de­tails, one Gov­ern­ment min­is­ter said the Prime Min­is­ter did not dis­close ad­di­tion­al in­for­ma­tion about the rel­a­tive.

This is the third oc­ca­sion on which Min­is­ter John has act­ed as Prime Min­is­ter.
