Naz­im Mo­hammed, aka ‘Pest’ has been charged with gun and am­mu­ni­tion pos­ses­sion. Mo­hammed was fined $7,500 dol­lars when he plead­ed guilty to the charge. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the TTPS:

Naz­im Mo­hammed, aka “Pest”, 44, of Ra­j­paul Av­enue, Le­gendre Road, Ec­clesville, Rio Claro, plead­ed guilty to the charge of pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion and was fined $7,500 or in de­fault one year with hard labour for each of­fence.

He ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mag­is­trate Tara­matie Ram­dass at the Rio Claro Mag­is­trates’ Court to­day, 12th Au­gust, 2021. Mo­hammed was grant­ed four months in which to pay the fine. On Wednes­day 11th Au­gust, of­fi­cers of the Rio Claro Task Force, and the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment (CID) were on road check ex­er­cise du­ty in the Rio Claro dis­trict.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, search­es were con­duct­ed at hous­es in the Ec­clesville area. In the course of the search­es, one New Eng­land 12-gauge shot­gun and sev­en rounds of 12 gauge car­tridges were found in the home of Mo­hammed. He was ar­rest­ed and sub­se­quent­ly charged. The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt Joseph Chan­dool, Supt Khan and Ag Asp. Jan­kee and su­per­vised by In­sp Rag­bir, Ag In­sp Ram­lakhan, Ag Sgt Ma­haraj and Ag Cpl De­noon.
