Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has confirmed May 23 as the official date for opening the upcoming parliamentary term.
Earlier today, Persad-Bissessar confirmed with CNC3 News that she was taking the date into account; however, no formal announcement has been made.
The proposed date would mark the commencement of legislative activities following the April 28th general election.
It is expected that the May 23rd date will allow the administration sufficient time to finalise cabinet appointments and outline its legislative agenda for the term ahead.
Only recently, the Office of the President released the gazette notice outlining the schedule of duties for respective government ministers.
