Amid heightened security alert, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar met with United States Embassy officials on Saturday night.
The dinner meeting, attended by the US Charge D'Affaires in Port-of-Spain Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz and other embassy officials, as well as Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers, took place at the Prime Minister's home in Phillipine.
And while no details were released on their discussions, the Prime Minister posted photos of the Divali dinner on her official Facebook page.
It followed a cryptic message issued by the US Embassy in Port-of-Spain on Saturday, warning US citizens to be on their guard.
The Donald Trump administration, supported by the Persad-Bissessar government, has been waging a violent war against drug traffickers that has been focused in recent weeks on the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela.
