While COVID-19 cas­es are in­creas­ing, Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley says the cur­rent sit­u­a­tion does not war­rant post­pon­ing or can­celling Car­ni­val 2023. He how­ev­er said the sit­u­a­tion does in fact re­quire in­creased per­son­al re­spon­si­bil­i­ty.

Speak­ing at a press con­fer­ence on Thurs­day he said the cur­rent in­crease al­so does not re­quire any re­stric­tions on trav­el as the glob­al vari­ants are al­ready here.

The Min­is­ter of Health said a re­cent sero­preva­lence study shows that some 92 per cent of the pop­u­la­tion has im­mu­ni­ty to covid-19 through ei­ther vac­cine in­dices im­mu­ni­ty or nat­ur­al ac­quired through in­fec­tion.
