PM Rowley still in isolation with COVID-19

Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley re­mains in iso­la­tion, in keep­ing with the cur­rent COVID-19 pro­to­cols, and is be­ing mon­i­tored by his physi­cians, as he rides out a sec­ond in­fec­tion with COVID-19.

The PM test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19 on Fri­day morn­ing, a short re­lease from the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter con­firmed.

“The Prime Min­is­ter, who is ful­ly-vac­ci­nat­ed and re­ceived two boost­ers, is ex­pe­ri­enc­ing very mild symp­toms,” the PM’s Of­fice said.

How­ev­er, PM Row­ley, who is an avid sports­man, has been weath­er­ing his cur­rent COVID-19 storm by watch­ing the Com­mon­wealth Games, and hope­ful­ly, the ex­cel­lent per­for­mance of cy­clist Nicholas Paul helped boost his spir­its.

“CON­GRAT­U­LA­TIONS to Nicholas Paul… Gold at the Com­mon­wealth Games. He de­stroyed the field,” the PM wrote in a Face­book post fol­low­ing Paul’s gold­en per­for­mance.

The Prime Min­is­ter al­so ex­tend­ed good wish­es to Kwe­si Browne.

“A heart felt con­grat­u­la­tions to Kwe­si Browne for mak­ing the fi­nals as well,” the PM said.

Dr Row­ley can­celled all his en­gage­ments over this week­end and for the du­ra­tion of his pe­ri­od in iso­la­tion.  He was to have host­ed Eman­ci­pa­tion Cel­e­bra­tions at the Diplo­mat­ic Cen­tre yes­ter­day (Fri­day 29 Ju­ly 2022) but could not at­tend be­cause of his cur­rent health sit­u­a­tion.

In­stead, the Eman­ci­pa­tion func­tion was host­ed by mem­bers of the Cab­i­net.

The Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter re­port­ed in its of­fi­cial so­cial me­dia that Min­is­ter of Hous­ing and Ur­ban De­vel­op­ment, Camille Robin­son-Reg­is MP de­liv­ered wel­come re­marks on the PM’s be­half.

The PM’s Of­fice not­ed the event al­so was at­tend­ed by sev­er­al Gov­ern­ment Min­is­ters, Mem­bers of Par­lia­ment, Mem­bers of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, and the Chief Sec­re­tary of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly.
