Less than two weeks before the 2025 general election, the People’s National Movement (PNM) has unveiled its manifesto, promising a “bold, new chapter” of national transformation.
A snapshot of the manifesto’s contents was revealed by Prime Minister Stuart Young a short while ago at Balisier House in Port of Spain.
Prime Minister Young acknowledged the various hurdles the government has had to overcome, as well as new challenges—such as geopolitical shifts—that have shaped the blueprint.
He outlined six strategic priorities aimed at modernizing governance, enhancing safety, and building a more inclusive and prosperous economy.
Key among these is the establishment of a modernized government through digitization, decentralization, and improved coordination. Young announced the creation of a Ministry of Implementation and Efficiency, tasked with improving public service delivery, enhancing transparency, and streamlining processes like pension applications.
On crime and safety, the Prime Minister emphasized efforts to create safer communities and a more secure nation through enhanced policing with advanced technology (e.g., surveillance systems, cybercrime units), the formation of elite security units, and improved inter-agency coordination.
He also pointed to plans for a more diverse and dynamic economy, shaped by global economic trends and external factors.
