Re­cent­ly ap­point­ed PNM Sen­a­tor Richie Sookhai has been ap­point­ed Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Works and Trans­port. The ap­point­ment takes ef­fect from to­day.

A state­ment from the of­fice of the prime min­is­ter a short while ago said the pres­i­dent made the change to cab­i­net, based on ad­vice from PM Dr Kei­th Row­ley.

Sookhai was ap­point­ed a PNM sen­a­tor af­ter Chris­tine Kan­ga­loo was elect­ed pres­i­dent, cre­at­ing a space on the gov­ern­ment’s sen­ate bench. Sookhai is a Ch­agua­nas busi­ness­man and was the for­mer pres­i­dent of the Ch­agua­nas Cham­ber of In­dus­try and Com­merce.
