The People’s National Movement has agreed to hold internal party elections at the end of June, following a leadership meeting at the party’s Balisier House, Port-of-Spain headquarters today.
A statement by the party said this was one of the matters discussed and that the party’s leadership made recommendations which will be proposed at a special general council meeting on Friday for all National Executive positions to be contested.
The leadership will also propose that the internal elections be open to all party members in Trinidad and Tobago, using the one man, one vote system.
The statement added: “As is customary, an Election Supervisory Committee be established by General Council to manage the conduct of the elections, including the review and issuance of the final electoral list, as well as the code of ethics for the Internal Election.”
The statement was signed by PNM chairman Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly.
