Three women were robbed of close to $1.5 million in cash and other valuables in Cunupia, in broad daylight on Wednesday, during a home invasion.

According to a police report, around midday, a 38-year-old woman was at her home at Madras Road with her two teenage daughters when a group of six men armed with firearms forced their way into the premises.

The men announced a hold-up and tied up the three victims.

They then proceeded to ransack the home, grabbing several items of value, before leaving in a burgundy vehicle.

Checks were made and a pellet gun, a quantity of jewellery, and $454,000 in cash which was being kept at the home were found to be missing.

The vehicle which was used in the robbery was found abandoned in the area and recovered.

Investigations are continuing.
