South Western Police are investigating two home invasions that occurred hours apart in Penal and Fyzabad on Thursday.
In the first incident, around 2.45 pm, an 18-year-old woman of Dookie Street was in her living room when the front door swung open and two men, with cloths covering their heads and faces and wearing gloves, walked in and pointed a gun at her.
They demanded money and jewellery, stealing her gold bera, gold ring band, a PlayStation 5 valued at $3,000, and $850 in cash. Sgt Boodlal, Cpl Gaffar, PC Wears, and WPC Noreiga of the Penal CID visited the scene and inquiries are continuing.
In the other incident, around 11 pm, a 31-year-old man was at his Dubarry Street, Delhi Road home when three men, wearing masks and gloves, accosted him. At gunpoint, they robbed him of a side strap bag containing $475, an Apple iPhone, a tablet, personal documents, and clothing.
The assailants then ran off. PC Lalman and PC Joseph of the Fyzabad Police visited the scene and interviewed several persons, but no one was arrested and none of the stolen items were recovered.
Investigations are ongoing.
