A police officer was injured in an accident that occurred in Piarco on Sunday night, which involved a marked police vehicle.
There were no fatalities.
According to a police report, at about 10:20 pm on Sunday, the marked police vehicle PDX 9272 assigned to the Road Police Task Force, Traffic and Highway Patrol, was proceeding west along Factory Road when it collided with another vehicle PDR 65 that was proceeding east along the said road.
Police said the PDR 65 came across unto the west bound lane and collided with the right rear fender and bumper of the police vehicle.
The driver of the police vehicle, PC Bajnath, sustained minor cuts to the head and hand. He was taken to the Arima Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Two other police officers—Ag Cpl Olivier and WPC Thomas—who were in the vehicle, also suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was a 34-year-old man from Tunapuna, who is a police officer last assigned to the Inter Agency Task Force. He is said to be currently on suspension.
There was one other occupant in that vehicle—a man reportedly from Building 237 in Oropune Gardens. Both men also were injured and sought medical attention.
