Two police officers and a hunter are being hailed for rescuing two lost hikers in the Northern Range on Sunday evening.
Police said PC Rochford and PC Kissoon were on patrol in Tunapuna when they received a report that two hikers were lost somewhere between Caura and Lopinot.
Officers were told that one of the hikers had contacted police using his cellphone.
Rochford and Kissoon then drove to La Pastora Village, Lopinot, where they met a villager who led them through the hillside forest.
According to the police report, the officers searched the area for four hours before finding the hikers five kilometres northwest of Lopinot Village.
The officers and the hunter then led the men back to La Pastora Village, where they were found to be in good health.
