Tobago police have launched a forensic investigation into the death of 41-year-old Iyana Castanada, who collapsed and died suddenly in Mason Hall on Friday night.
Castanada reportedly fell ill after drinking a cup of moringa tea. A male friend told officers she complained of severe belly pain and collapsed around 11.30 pm at a home in Top Hill.
However, another account from a woman close to Castanada suggests she may have become unwell after bathing in an outdoor pool while liming, and was possibly given the tea to help with shivering.
Doctors referred the case to police following an initial assessment, and a forensic autopsy has been recommended to determine the cause of death.
A District Medical Officer visited the scene, and the body was taken to the Scarborough Mortuary around 2 am.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
