In an on­go­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice, sev­er­al firearms and am­mu­ni­tion were seized across the coun­try.

Ac­cord­ing to this re­lease from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice for the year thus far po­lice of­fi­cers have seized 94 firearms and ar­rest­ed sev­er­al per­sons in an ef­fort to re­duce gun vi­o­lence and re­store a sense of safe­ty to our com­mu­ni­ties. Eight more il­le­gal firearms and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion were seized and re­moved from com­mu­ni­ties across Trinidad and To­ba­go this week­end. For the year 2022, thus far of­fi­cers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice have seized 94 firearms and ar­rest­ed sev­er­al per­sons in an ef­fort to re­duce gun vi­o­lence and re­store a sense of safe­ty to our com­mu­ni­ties.

A suc­cess­ful op­er­a­tion in Laven­tille yes­ter­day led to the seizure of an Amer­i­can Um­ni Hy­brid Mul­ti Cal­i­bre Ri­fle fit­ted with a scope, a Stag Arms Ri­fle, a Glock 19 Pis­tol fit­ted with a laser at­tach­ment, a Glock 27 Pis­tol, a Glock speed­loader, a M16 mag­a­zine speed loader and a CYA hol­ster. One man was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with this seizure.

Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion pro­ceed­ed to La Re­treat Road, Ari­ma yes­ter­day where they searched a bushy area, there they found and seized one Sig Sauer pis­tol with five rounds 7.62am­mu­ni­tion and five rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion, which was con­cealed in a black plas­tic bag.

Mean­while, in the East­ern Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers found and seized parts of a home-made shot­gun when they searched a known drug area at Mafek­ing Vil­lage, Ma­yaro on Fri­day. On Sun­day, a firearm and sev­en rounds of am­mu­ni­tion were al­so seized when of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port that a man was in pos­ses­sion of a firearm at Acono Road, Mara­cas, St Joseph. Ad­di­tion­al­ly, South­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers re­ceived in­tel­li­gence which led them to Or­chid Gar­dens, Pleas­antville where a Brown­ing pis­tol with two rounds of nine mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion and fit­ted with a si­lencer were seized.

Over the week­end po­lice al­so seized a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion in­clud­ing 11 pis­tol mag­a­zines, 11 ri­fle mag­a­zines, 245 rounds of5.56 am­mu­ni­tion, 64 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion and85 rounds of 40 cal­i­bre am­mu­ni­tion.
