The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is congratulating its first female Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher on her substantive position.
The Members of the House of Representatives voted in favour of the motion to appoint her as the substantive Commissioner of Police earlier Friday.
This is the first woman to ever be appointed a substantive commissioner of police in the Organisation’s 431 years of public service and as well as the first ever in the country’s history. Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ann-Marie Alleyne-Daly was the first female to act in the position of Commissioner of Police in 2014.
This year marks the 68th year of women in the Police Service. The first 12 women entered the TTPS in 1955.
The Executive as well as the rank and file of the TTPS look forward to the continued stewardship as the Commissioner charts the course forward for the Police Service.
