A Port-of-Spain woman was struck in the face and later stabbed with a piece of a broken mirror, during an argument with her male companion on Thursday.
Police said the 34-year-old victim, of Duncan Street, got into an argument with the suspect at her home around 8.05 pm, when he hit her in the face.
As the woman stumbled backwards, the suspect allegedly grabbed the glass shard and stabbed her in the left side of the neck.
The victim ran to the Duncan Street Police Post, where officers assisted by taking her to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital for treatment. They later went to her apartment and arrested the suspect, who was still there.
He remained in custody at the Woodbrook Police Station up to yesterday.
