Residents and businesses along Biljah Road and several surrounding communities in Central Trinidad are being advised to prepare for a scheduled electricity interruption later this month.
According to a notice issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC), electricity service will be temporarily suspended on Tuesday, June 23 as part of works aimed at improving the quality and reliability of supply.
The outage is scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
T&TEC said the affected area will extend from LP#88 on Matna Drive, near the Endeavour Substation, north onto Endeavour Road and south to Rajkumar Road. The interruption will also affect sections of Rajkumar Road heading east onto Narsaloo Ramaya Road, before crossing the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway along Biljah Road and into Caroni Savannah Road.
Additional areas expected to experience the outage include sections near Roopnarine Hardware and Caroni Savannah Road heading north to Pierre Road Junction and west to LP#69 near Pierre Road Recreational Ground.
Associated side streets listed in the notice include Chan Ramlal Road, Chenille Drive, Palm Drive, Henry Street, Petal Drive and Clark Road in Caroni Savannah, Chaguanas.
T&TEC apologised for the inconvenience and said the interruption forms part of efforts to strengthen service delivery.
The commission also reminded customers to exercise caution around overhead power lines, warning that coming close to or making contact with the lines can result in serious injury. Persons carrying out building or renovation work were advised to contact T&TEC to arrange temporary disconnection of supply where necessary.
