Res­i­dents and busi­ness­es along Bil­jah Road and sev­er­al sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties in Cen­tral Trinidad are be­ing ad­vised to pre­pare for a sched­uled elec­tric­i­ty in­ter­rup­tion lat­er this month.

Ac­cord­ing to a no­tice is­sued by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Elec­tric­i­ty Com­mis­sion (T&TEC), elec­tric­i­ty ser­vice will be tem­porar­i­ly sus­pend­ed on Tues­day, June 23 as part of works aimed at im­prov­ing the qual­i­ty and re­li­a­bil­i­ty of sup­ply.

The out­age is sched­uled to take place be­tween 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

T&TEC said the af­fect­ed area will ex­tend from LP#88 on Mat­na Dri­ve, near the En­deav­our Sub­sta­tion, north on­to En­deav­our Road and south to Ra­jku­mar Road. The in­ter­rup­tion will al­so af­fect sec­tions of Ra­jku­mar Road head­ing east on­to Narsa­loo Ra­maya Road, be­fore cross­ing the Sir Solomon Ho­choy High­way along Bil­jah Road and in­to Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road.

Ad­di­tion­al ar­eas ex­pect­ed to ex­pe­ri­ence the out­age in­clude sec­tions near Roop­nar­ine Hard­ware and Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road head­ing north to Pierre Road Junc­tion and west to LP#69 near Pierre Road Recre­ation­al Ground.

As­so­ci­at­ed side streets list­ed in the no­tice in­clude Chan Ram­lal Road, Che­nille Dri­ve, Palm Dri­ve, Hen­ry Street, Petal Dri­ve and Clark Road in Ca­roni Sa­van­nah, Ch­agua­nas.

T&TEC apol­o­gised for the in­con­ve­nience and said the in­ter­rup­tion forms part of ef­forts to strength­en ser­vice de­liv­ery.

The com­mis­sion al­so re­mind­ed cus­tomers to ex­er­cise cau­tion around over­head pow­er lines, warn­ing that com­ing close to or mak­ing con­tact with the lines can re­sult in se­ri­ous in­jury. Per­sons car­ry­ing out build­ing or ren­o­va­tion work were ad­vised to con­tact T&TEC to arrange tem­po­rary dis­con­nec­tion of sup­ply where nec­es­sary.
