Several parts of T&T are currently without electricity.
T&TEC has lost about 100MW of power due to an issue at Powergen.
This had resulted in about 30,000 customers across Trinidad being out of power at this time.
The Commission is working on getting the situation resolved at the power producers in order to normalize the grid.
It is expected that in about one hour, power will be fully restored to the grid.
Some areas reported so far are: Diego Martin, Arima, Chin Chin, Cunupia, Curepe, Arouca and other parts of north and central Trinidad.
T&TEC has issued a statement saying that it wishes to advise the public that at approximately 9:00 a.m. it experienced a fault on its system stemming from an apparent problem at one of the generating plants.
As a result, there was automatic shedding of load across Trinidad and several areas are currently without an electricity supply, including the list following. Tobago is unaffected.
The Commission is speaking with the power producer to determine the nature of the issue and the time for restoration.
An update will be provided at 11 a.m. or sooner.
