Sev­er­al parts of T&T are cur­rent­ly with­out elec­tric­i­ty.

T&TEC has lost about 100MW of pow­er due to an is­sue at Pow­er­gen.

This had re­sult­ed in about 30,000 cus­tomers across Trinidad be­ing out of pow­er at this time.

The Com­mis­sion is work­ing on get­ting the sit­u­a­tion re­solved at the pow­er pro­duc­ers in or­der to nor­mal­ize the grid.

It is ex­pect­ed that in about one hour, pow­er will be ful­ly re­stored to the grid.

Some ar­eas re­port­ed so far are: Diego Mar­tin, Ari­ma, Chin Chin, Cunu­pia, Curepe, Arou­ca and oth­er parts of north and cen­tral Trinidad.

T&TEC has is­sued a state­ment say­ing that it wish­es to ad­vise the pub­lic that at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 9:00 a.m. it ex­pe­ri­enced a fault on its sys­tem stem­ming from an ap­par­ent prob­lem at one of the gen­er­at­ing plants.

As a re­sult, there was au­to­mat­ic shed­ding of load across Trinidad and sev­er­al ar­eas are cur­rent­ly with­out an elec­tric­i­ty sup­ply, in­clud­ing the list fol­low­ing. To­ba­go is un­af­fect­ed.

The Com­mis­sion is speak­ing with the pow­er pro­duc­er to de­ter­mine the na­ture of the is­sue and the time for restora­tion.
