The Princes Town Market will be temporarily closed for essential repairs from Monday 16 October 2023, and is expected to remain closed for roughly three weeks, the Chairman of the Princes Town Regional Corporation has confirmed.
In an official release, the PTRC chairman explains the closure is necessary to ensure public safety.

“During this period, the Corporation will permit these vendors to conduct their business on the sides of the streets surrounding the market, ensuring they can continue to generate income,” Gowrie Roopnarine says in the release.
He added: “Upon completion of the repair works, which are anticipated to enhance the overall safety and functionality of the market, vendors will return to their designated spaces within the market premises.”
Chairman Roopnarine said the decision was made following a meeting held last Thursday (October 5), during which he along with his technical staff at the Regional Corporation and the contractor responsible for the repair works, met with representatives of the market vendors at the Princes Town Market.
