The Congress of the People (COP) has announced that Prakash Ramadhar’s appointment as Political Leader has been officially ratified.
This final step in the confirmation process was formalized at a National Council meeting held last night at Mandela Hall, Centre of Excellence.
According to a release by the COP, "94 % of council members overwhelmingly supported Mr. Ramadhar’s leadership, with 33 votes in favour, 1 against, and 1 abstention."
The meeting was attended by a combination of voting delegates from the National Executive, various constituency executives, and other key voting bodies such as the Women’s Arm.
Among the attendees were former Political Leaders Kirt Sinnette and Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, as well as former Member of Parliament Dr. Rodger Samuel.
Following his ratification, Ramadhar reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals and mission of the COP saying, “This is not just a mandate to lead; it is a responsibility to unite and strengthen our movement for the benefit of the people of Trinidad and Tobago."
Ramadhar pledged “blood, sweat, and tears” to both the country and the party as the COP prepares for the upcoming General Elections.
Ramadhar also emphasized the importance of collaboration, signalling his readiness to work with others to achieve common interests.
In closing the COP added, "The Congress of the People expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all members who participated in this pivotal process and renews its call for unity and cooperation as the party continues to champion its vision of good governance, inclusivity, and national progress."
