For­mer Min­is­ter of Tourism, Cul­ture and the Arts Ran­dall Mitchell has con­ced­ed de­feat in La Brea.

In a state­ment post­ed on so­cial me­dia ad­dressed to con­stituents, Mitchell wrote, “Whilst this is not the re­sult we had hoped for, I ac­cept it with hu­mil­i­ty and grace. The peo­ple have spo­ken, and I re­spect their voice.”

He re­flect­ed on his cam­paign as “about stand­ing with you, the peo­ple of La Brea, and earn­ing your trust and shar­ing a vi­sion of pos­si­bil­i­ty for our com­mu­ni­ty.”

Mitchell thanked his sup­port­ers, say­ing, “To those who be­lieved in me, who gave your sup­port, your time, and your en­cour­age­ment, I will for­ev­er be grate­ful. Your faith has meant more than words can tru­ly ex­press.”

He al­so ac­knowl­edged his par­ty col­leagues, adding, “We re­main com­mit­ted to build­ing a stronger, more re­silient and pros­per­ous Trinidad and To­ba­go.”

Ad­dress­ing his fam­i­ly, he wrote, “Thank you for the sac­ri­fices, the qui­et strength you gave me when I need­ed it most.”

Con­clud­ing his mes­sage, Mitchell stat­ed, “I will al­ways be here, do­ing my part to up­lift our peo­ple and our com­mu­ni­ties, to lis­ten, and to work to­ward a brighter fu­ture. The work con­tin­ues.”
