Reduced water supply in central and south west

The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty has ad­vised of a re­duced wa­ter sup­ply due to emer­gency re­pairs at the De­sali­na­tion Com­pa­ny of Trinidad and To­ba­go (De­sal­cott).

Re­pair works are sched­uled to be com­plet­ed by 6:30 p.m. on Tues­day.  

De­sal­cott is con­duct­ing emer­gency main­te­nance works at the in­take of the fa­cil­i­ty.

Dur­ing this pe­ri­od, wa­ter de­liv­ery from De­sal­cott to the Au­thor­i­ty will be re­duced to 36 mil­lion gal­lons per day, down from the usu­al 40 mil­lion gal­lons per day.

The de­sali­na­tion plant, which is owned and op­er­at­ed by De­sal­cott, sup­plies wa­ter to the Point Lisas In­dus­tri­al Es­tate and aug­ments sup­ply to sev­er­al ar­eas in Cen­tral and South West Trinidad. As a re­sult of the re­duced out­put, some cus­tomers may ex­pe­ri­ence low pres­sures or a de­lay in their reg­u­lar sched­uled sup­ply. De­sal­cott has as­sured WASA that every ef­fort is be­ing made to com­plete the re­pairs as sched­uled and ramp-up to full wa­ter de­liv­ery by the above-stat­ed time.
