Relatives arrive early to collect detainees as SoE ends

As the State of Emer­gency (SoE) comes to an end, rel­a­tives of de­tainees at the East­ern Cor­rec­tion­al and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­tre (ECRC), San­ta Rosa, Ari­ma, be­gan ar­riv­ing from as ear­ly as 7 am to col­lect their loved ones.

Ac­cord­ing to the reg­u­la­tions, au­thor­i­ties must re­lease all per­sons de­tained dur­ing the SoE who have not been charged.

Of­fi­cials yes­ter­day con­firmed that ap­prox­i­mate­ly 36 per­sons are sched­uled for re­lease this morn­ing in batch­es at stag­gered times. Re­leas­es will take place at the ECRC, the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison, and the Women's Prison at Gold­en Grove Road, Pi­ar­co.
