ACP Oswain Subero, the recently appointed head of the T&T Police Service (TTPS) Tobago Division, met with religious leaders and Lowlands area representative Wayne Clarke to discuss crime and other community concerns.
The two-hour meeting at the Masjid at Tawbah in Lowlands yesterday included representatives from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Tobago Council of Churches, the Hindu community, the Muslim community, and the Baha’i faith.
They discussed joint army patrols, repairing police vehicles, the need for a new prison, and judicial reforms to speed up prosecutions.
This meeting was held just over two months after the island’s 21st murder victim, Lennox Eastman, was shot in Lambeau. He later died at the Scarborough General Hospital.
Concerns about school bullying and its connection to rising crime were a major focus of the discussions.
Clarke said the religious representatives at the meeting pledged their full support for the police and joint security operations.
