Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Anil Roberts says he is saddened by reports that a man who was injured in a vehicular accident in which he had been involved on Saturday, had died after spending two days at hospital.
In a brief response to Guardian Media even as he extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends during his Senate contribution, Roberts agreed it was “extremely” sad that the victim identified only as Kern also known as Matrix of El Socorro South had passed.
He urged motorists to exercise “more care and consideration,” when traversing the nation’s roads.
Roberts was proceeding west along the Beetham Highway around 5.23 am on June 21, when his car was broadsided, resulting in him crashing into the median.
Seconds later, another vehicle crashed into Roberts’ car. In a social media post hours after the accident, Roberts recounted bracing for the impact as he watched the car speeding towards him.
While the minister walked away with minor bruises, the victim, who was seated in the back seat of the car that ran into Roberts’s vehicle – suffered more severe injuries and spent the time hospitalised until his passing yesterday.
Scores of people offered condolences to the family of the man.
Anthony Jeremiah posted, “That’s why we need Demerit to take them off the nation's road.”
