Opposition PNM MP Camille Robinson-Regis has stated that a recent medical procedure she underwent was not serious, and she expects to resume full duties in January.
Robinson-Regis, MP for Trincity-Maloney, issued a statement to this effect yesterday. She has been on leave from Parliament since shortly after the term began.
“I wish to sincerely thank the many constituents, colleagues, and well-wishers who have reached out over the past few months to enquire about my well-being. Your messages of support, prayers, and concern have been deeply appreciated,” Robinson-Regis said.
She added, “I recently underwent a planned medical procedure that required a period of recuperation. I wish to assure the public that the procedure was not serious, and I am recovering well.”
During her leave, Robinson-Regis said she remained in constant communication with key stakeholders across her constituency, as well as with the team at the Trincity-Maloney Constituency Office.
“Although I have been temporarily away, all constituency services have continued uninterrupted. The office has been fully operational and has remained committed to serving the people of Trincity-Maloney, addressing needs and ensuring that ongoing matters receive the necessary attention.”
“I expect to resume my full duties in January and look forward to re-engaging with constituents in person. Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of kindness and support. It has been both uplifting and encouraging during my recovery,” she added.
In August, Robinson-Regis, who had been off the political frontlines since June, disclosed that she had undergone major surgery at that time, which was followed by complications. She said her recovery and healing process were ongoing.
