Jew­ellery rob­bers beat and tied up a sales clerk dur­ing a rob­bery at a Princes Town jew­ellery shop on Fri­day.

Po­lice said Sasha Jagdeo, 31, of Tor­rib Trace, New Grant, was at her work­place—Ian Jew­ellery Shop on Main­got Road, St Julien Road, Princes Town—around 9 am when two armed sus­pects ap­proached her and an­nounced a rob­bery.

One sus­pect struck Jagdeo in the face and re­strained her hands and feet. The sus­pects then re­moved items from the shop, in­clud­ing gold jew­ellery, watch­es and scrap gold, with a re­port­ed val­ue of more than TT$380,000.

Af­ter tak­ing the items, the sus­pects left in a Nis­san Ti­i­da and trav­elled along the Na­pari­ma Ma­yaro Road.

Of­fi­cers from the Princes Town Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment re­spond­ed, vis­it­ed the scene and gath­ered in­for­ma­tion. An­oth­er po­lice unit processed the scene, but no fin­ger­prints were ob­tained.

Jagdeo has not yet giv­en a state­ment and is re­ceiv­ing med­ical treat­ment at the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty.
