Jewellery robbers beat and tied up a sales clerk during a robbery at a Princes Town jewellery shop on Friday.
Police said Sasha Jagdeo, 31, of Torrib Trace, New Grant, was at her workplace—Ian Jewellery Shop on Maingot Road, St Julien Road, Princes Town—around 9 am when two armed suspects approached her and announced a robbery.
One suspect struck Jagdeo in the face and restrained her hands and feet. The suspects then removed items from the shop, including gold jewellery, watches and scrap gold, with a reported value of more than TT$380,000.
After taking the items, the suspects left in a Nissan Tiida and travelled along the Naparima Mayaro Road.
Officers from the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department responded, visited the scene and gathered information. Another police unit processed the scene, but no fingerprints were obtained.
Jagdeo has not yet given a statement and is receiving medical treatment at the Princes Town District Health Facility.
Investigations are continuing.
