Two San Juan men who live next door to each other sustained non-life-threatening injuries during a shooting on Thursday night.
The victims, both aged 25, of Bushe Street, San Juan, were shot in the left hand and both legs, respectively.
Reports indicate the first victim had been walking up the staircase to his apartment around 9.45 pm on August 8 when loud explosions were heard and he saw two men shooting at him.
He was shot in the left hand as he ran for cover.
Meanwhile, the second victim had been walking along the street when he heard the gunshots and turned to run.
However, he was pursued by the gunmen after jumping into a drain to escape and was shot multiple times in both legs before the shooters ran off.
The second victim managed to make his way home and was assisted by officers of the North East Division Task Force, who took him to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex, Mt Hope.
The other victim was taken to the same hospital by officers of the San Juan Police Station.
Both men were listed in stable condition up to yesterday. —ANNA-LISA PAUL
