People’s National Movement (PNM) candidate for Port-of-Spain South, Keith Scotland, has confirmed a multi-million-dollar fishing facility is in the works for the Production Drive area.
Speaking to Guardian Media in response to criticism over a perceived lack of development, Scotland emphasised that the project has already gone out to tender and will benefit residents of Production Drive, Pioneer Drive, and Sea Lots.
“The upgraded fish depot will bring real development to the area. It’s a significant step forward, and I was instrumental in pushing for this,” Scotland said yesterday.
Scotland made the comment in response to recent criticisms and comparisons over the lack of development in the constituency made during a walkabout by Opposition candidates. He dismissed the UNC claims of a “clean sweep” by the rival party.
“They had a truck and about seven people,” he noted, contrasting it with the community support he received during his own event in the area.
“I had more people sitting with me without offering anything. That speaks volumes.”
Scotland also defended his presence and commitment to the constituency, saying he has consistently engaged with residents and continues to promote unity and respect across all communities.
He explained that although he was seen in the community yesterday, it wasn’t part of a campaign activity.
“I respect all faiths and observe sacred days. That’s why I wasn’t wearing any PNM jersey,” he explained.
Scotland reaffirmed his dedication to building stronger communities and dismissed Opposition claims.
“The only sweep coming will be from the PNM,” he declared confidently.
