Members of the Hard Grounds Hunters Search and Rescue team on Wednesday began their first day of search for missing father of two, David Neeranjan, 45, of St Helena, Piarco.
The search will continue tomorrow.
Speaking with the Guardian Media, the head of the search and rescue team Ren Gopiesingh said several of its members showed up early Wednesday morning at the Heights of Aripo to begin the search.
“We searched around the area where Neeranjan’s car was burnt but we got no leads yet. We also spoke to several residents in the area but nothing yet but we will broaden our search,” Gopiesingh said.
Neeranjan’s vehicle, a grey Toyota Corolla, was found burnt on Saturday night.
Neeranjan, 45, was last seen by his family at their Santa Monica Trace, St Helena, Piarco at about midday on Saturday.
It was reported that Neeranjan received a telephone call before leaving his home to go to the market and drop off items to a customer.
Neeranjan operated an online store where customers would contact him for items he advertised on social media. He also delivered the items to the homes of his customers.
The police told Guardian Media that Neeranjan was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and money laundering on June 23, 2016.
He appeared before a Tunapuna magistrate to answer the charge involving the alleged transfer of property valued at $2.4 million.
Police also said Neeranjan was previously charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking on January 29 2015.
Neeranjan’s close female relative is also charged with money laundering.
