Police are looking for a man who robbed another man of his car and valuables while he waited to meet up with his date from the Grindr app.
The assailant is said to be of African descent, about 5-feet-10-inches tall, with a slim build and long unkept hair.
Police reports indicate that around 11:30 pm on Friday, the victim made his way to Prince Street to meet in person a man he had met on the dating app and with whom he had had virtual meetings.
He drove his white Toyota Daihatsu valued $25,000 to the meeting point. While waiting to meet his date, the victim was ordered to exit his vehicle by the suspect. The victim complied.
The suspect then drove off with the car and the victim’s Samsung S21 Plus cell phone valued $7,000 as well as his spectacles valued at $4,000.
The victim then walked in a westerly direction until he reached St. Christopher’s Gas Station, where he was assisted by police officers who brought him to the Belmont Police Station to make a report.
Investigations continue.
