Six peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and mar­i­jua­na and an air ri­fle were seized dur­ing an an­ti crime op­er­a­tion in the Siparia, San­ta Flo­ra and Erin dis­tricts on Wednes­day.

The op­er­a­tion, con­duct­ed be­tween 4 am and 9 am, formed part of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice’s on­go­ing crime fight­ing ini­tia­tives un­der Op­er­a­tion R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield.

The ex­er­cise in­volved of­fi­cers from the High Per­for­mance Pa­trol Re­sponse Unit, San­ta Flo­ra, Siparia and Erin Po­lice Sta­tions, Siparia CID, the K-9 Unit and the South-West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force.

Po­lice said search­es were con­duct­ed un­der the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions, 2026, tar­get­ing peo­ple and premis­es for firearms and am­mu­ni­tion.

A search was con­duct­ed at the home of a 34-year-old man of Fran­cis Trace Ex­ten­sion, San­ta Flo­ra. Noth­ing il­le­gal was found.

How­ev­er, four peo­ple were ar­rest­ed at a res­i­dence at Fran­cis Trace, San­ta Flo­ra, in con­nec­tion with en­quiries in­to the pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

They in­clud­ed a 19-year-old man, iden­ti­fied by po­lice as a pri­or­i­ty of­fend­er, who al­leged­ly had 320 grammes of mar­i­jua­na in his pos­ses­sion. Al­so ar­rest­ed were a 39 year old woman, a 19-year-old woman and an­oth­er 19-year-old man.

A 48-year-old man of Fran­cis Trace was al­so ar­rest­ed af­ter an air ri­fle was seized. Po­lice said he was not the hold­er of a per­mit au­tho­ris­ing him to have the firearm in his pos­ses­sion.

A sixth man, a 21-year-old of Fran­cis Trace, was de­tained in con­nec­tion with en­quiries in­to a re­port­ed lar­ce­ny in the Erin Po­lice Dis­trict.

All six re­main in po­lice cus­tody as en­quiries con­tin­ue.

The op­er­a­tion was spear­head­ed by Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent Thomp­son and Su­per­in­ten­dent Jag­ger­nauth and co­or­di­nat­ed by As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dents Cor­rie, Lewis and Forbes.
