A Trinidadian national is being sought by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in connection with a recent murder in the territory.
In a release yesterday, the RVIPF said it was seeking the public’s help to locate John Dawn Emmanuel, also known as “Small Brent,” for the murder of 32-year-old Nyron A Erickson on May 10.
The release said he was considered to be a serious threat to public safety and has also been associated with kidnapping, extortion, and multiple murders in T&T and elsewhere in the region.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect previously operated under a different identity, Brent Dain Danglade, and might still have access to identification/travel documents in that name.
The release said the RVIPF was actively pursuing all leads and continued to work with other local, regional, and international law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend Emmanuel.
It said members of the public with any information on his whereabouts were urged to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-8477 (TIPS) or overseas at (284) 800-8477.
The public was advised not to confront, approach, or assist him under any circumstances.
In 2005, Emmanuel and his brother Brent “Big Brent” Miller, were state witnesses in the conspiracy to murder trial of the then leader of the Jamaat-al-Muslimeen Yasin Abu Bakr.
Emmanuel had claimed to be a past member of the Jamaat.
During the trial, Emmanual acknowledged his involvement in a range of criminal activities, including drug trafficking, robbery, kidnapping, and murder.
At a second trial in 2006, both Brents “lost their memories,” and Bakr was freed. “Small Brent” was subsequently charged with perjury.
