Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers is in Washington, D.C. for a series of high-level bilateral meetings with senior officials of the United States Government.
In a media release today, the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs said Sobers will hold discussions from May 13 to 15 with officials from the United States Department of State, the United States Trade Representative, the Department of Energy, the Department of War and the National Security Council.
The ministry said the discussions will focus on foreign policy, energy security, national security and international trade.
It added that the meetings will build on previous bilateral discussions between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, most recently during the Shield of Americas Summit in Miami in March 2026 hosted by United States President Donald Trump.
According to the ministry, Sobers met senior officials from the United States Department of Energy and the National Security Council this morning.
He is also expected to meet US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on May 15.
