A 42-year-old man remained in police custody yesterday after being held for allegedly slitting his mother’s throat during an argument.
Both the suspect and victim, aged 60, live in Longdenville.
Police said the housewife was attacked around 3.45 pm on Sunday at home, as the two were allegedly engaged in a dispute over property.
The suspect is said to have armed himself with a cutlass and slit his mother’s throat, following which he walked out of the house.
The injured woman was taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where she was treated.
She was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where she was listed in a stable condition. - Anna-Lisa Paul
