Son allegedly slits mother's throat during argument

A 42-year-old man re­mained in po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day af­ter be­ing held for al­leged­ly slit­ting his moth­er’s throat dur­ing an ar­gu­ment.

Both the sus­pect and vic­tim, aged 60, live in Long­denville.

Po­lice said the house­wife was at­tacked around 3.45 pm on Sun­day at home, as the two were al­leged­ly en­gaged in a dis­pute over prop­er­ty.

The sus­pect is said to have armed him­self with a cut­lass and slit his moth­er’s throat, fol­low­ing which he walked out of the house.

The in­jured woman was tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty where she was treat­ed.

She was lat­er trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where she was list­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion. - An­na-Lisa Paul
