The son of 57-year-old Malah Boodram has been charged with her murder.
The 31-year-old man is expected to appear virtually in court today.
Boodram was beaten to death at her Cleghorn Village, Princes Town home on Monday. It is alleged that the brutal attack stemmed from a dispute over the disconnection of the Internet at the house.
The beating took place in the presence of Boodram’s husband Dennis Koat, but he was not injured.
Meanwhile, police said a 29-year-old man from Carapo Village, Brasso, is also expected to appear in court today charged with the murder of Navin Itwaru in Cunupia. Itwaru’s car was stolen and he was beaten to death with a wheel spanner.
Initial police reports stated around 11.20 pm, police responded to information of a wounding at Chin Chin Gardens. Police found Itwaru lying on the road with injuries to the back and top of his head. They also retrieved a wheel spanner nearby.
An ambulance took Itwaru to the Eric Williams Science Complex and he was treated for head trauma. He died hours later at 1.21 am. Further inquiries by the police revealed that he had been beaten and his car stolen.
Investigations were conducted by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3, supervised by Supt Persad, ASP Maharaj and Sgt Bridgemohan.
