Hindu families across the country can finally take comfort knowing they will be able to give final peace to their deceased loved ones, following the announcement by the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha of the special performance of MUKTI PRAYAAN in early February.

An official statement from the Maha Sabha says the ceremony will be performed on February 6 by Pandits in the organisations Pandits’ Parishad, to bring peace to the deceased, and peace of mind to the relatives they have left behind.

The following is the full text of the statement issued by Maha Sabha General Secretary, Vijay Maharaj…

The Pandits' Parishad of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha announced yesterday the performance of MUKTI PRAYAAN, on Sunday 6th February 2022, commencing 8 am. Pandits Rishi Maharaj, Adesh Maharaj and Dinesh Rambally engaged yesterday in a televised and radio broadcast detailing this upcoming religious event, at https://fb.watch/aAqxviTYsl/

During the pandemic, we are aware that there were persons who would have died and for whom there may not have been proper cremation or post-cremation rites, proper rituals with the ashes of the deceased, or satsanghs in their honour. There were also instances of serious shortcomings on the part of funeral homes thereby compromising the sanctity and solemnity of the rituals to be performed at the time of death

Many families feel deprived of having been able to do more to ensure the peace and well-being of the departed, as well as closure for themselves.

It is with this in mind that the Pandits of the Pandits' Parishad will be performing MUKTI PRAYAAN, a highly recommended ceremony designed to allow families to make oblations on behalf of their departed, loved ones for their onward progress and sustenance in the hereafter.

For those who wish to join in from their homes, it will be a televised event as well as an online link for the proceedings will be provided in a subsequent release, through which they can simply follow the instructions.

Otherwise, families can go to one of several designated temples where they can participate with the guidance of the in-house Pandits while following the online proceedings together.

Contact numbers for pandits/coordinators will be provided subsequently through which persons can register their intention to attend a temple, or have their enquiries answered. For those who cannot afford the necessary ingredients and or possess the required religious implements, the Maha Sabha will assist in this regard

Recitation of the Sri Vishnu Sahasranaam, excerpts from the Srimad Bhagwad Gita and tillaanjali and havan will form a major part of the ceremony on this day

While this ceremony is compliant with the Hindu scriptures, anyone from any faith is invited to join.

The Pandits Parishad will provide further details in the upcoming days.
