Spiritual Baptists will not be suspending services and gatherings in light of the COVID-19 virus.
Confirmation of this of this came from His Grace Archbishop Glenroy Anthony Jack.
He spoke with Guardian Media yesterday as the National Evangelical Spiritual Baptist Faith Tobago Circuit held its walk and ecumenical service.
Jack said, “My personal view on this matter is that this is really the time that the church is really supposed to be in communication with our God regardless of what religion. In the atmosphere there is a spirit that we may not be able to control the only way we can control the spirit is with communication with the Lord. Our doors will remain open. Our doors will only close if word comes from our Prime Minister or those in authority where they come to the understanding or says to us the church should be closed other than that we serve God in the church.”
Jack said his organisation has a function with its youth arm carded for next Sunday at Port-of-SpainCity Hall.
“If there is no change or word comes from our Government our mission continues in prayer to God. “
He said services would take place as usual but noted that all precautions have been put in place at several Baptist churches. The event commenced with a short walk at Tamarind Square, Scarborough then to the Fairfield Complex at Bacolet Street.
The event was attended by scores of Spiritual Baptist from both islands.
In his address, Jack urged the faithful to keep praying to God. Various Baptist leaders also prayed to put an end to the COVID-19 virus
