Forty-six-year-old Ekun­dayo Per­pi­gnac aka ‘Shu Shu’ has been charged with the mur­der of Matthew John and shoot­ing with in­tent at an­oth­er man which oc­curred on Au­gust 25th.  

Per­pi­gnac of St James who is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port of Spain Mag­is­trate to­day was al­so charged with Pos­ses­sion of a Firearm with In­tent and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion with In­tent. 

He was charged fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, George Bus­by yes­ter­day.  

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, John, 36, of Up­per Bournes Road, St. James, was in the dri­ve­way of his home with a male com­pan­ion when they were ap­proached by two gun­men who shot in their di­rec­tion. The men were hit about their bod­ies, while the as­sailants made their es­cape.   

John was pro­nounced dead at the St. James Med­ical Fa­cil­i­ty, while his friend was trans­ferred to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.  

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the in­ci­dent re­sult­ed in the sus­pect be­ing ar­rest­ed on Sep­tem­ber 6th by of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion One. In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP Si­mon and In­sps. Lynch and Mon­groo, all of HBI Re­gion One, with the as­sis­tance of of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion.  

Per­pi­gnac, was charged with the of­fences by WPC Fred­er­ick, al­so of HBI Re­gion One, on Sep­tem­ber 13th.
