Homi­cide in­ves­ti­ga­tors are try­ing to gath­er ad­di­tion­al in­for­ma­tion on a man who was stabbed to death af­ter a wake in Diego Mar­tin ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the man, who was iden­ti­fied on­ly as Akeel, at­tend­ed a wake at Sa­van­nah #1 Ter­race on Mon­day night, but re­port­ed­ly left the venue.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said around 12 am yes­ter­day, sev­er­al peo­ple re­port­ed hear­ing screams from the street and no­ticed him run­ning, be­fore his body was found near­by.

Of­fi­cers of the West End Po­lice Sta­tion were called in and found the man with a stab wound to the back of his neck.

Fur­ther in­for­ma­tion on how he was at­tacked and why re­mained un­clear up to yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

Passers-by told of­fi­cers that the man was from Laven­tille.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors stat­ed that the man was of African de­scent, with a dark brown com­plex­ion and a low hair­cut.

He was wear­ing a black T-shirt, a pair of long blue jeans, and white Nike sneak­ers.
