Student vaccination delayed in Tobago

The roll-out of the Pfiz­er vac­cines for Sec­ondary School stu­dents in To­ba­go has been post­poned.

The is­land was sched­uled to be­gin its stu­dent vac­ci­na­tion pro­gram si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly with Trinidad to­day, with stu­dents at the Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary and Pen­te­costal Light and Life Foun­da­tion High School.

At­tribut­ing the de­lay to “un­fore­seen cir­cum­stances”, an of­fi­cial state­ment from the Di­vi­sion of Ed­u­ca­tion, In­no­va­tion and En­er­gy did not pro­vide any oth­er ex­pla­na­tion for the in­ter­rup­tion, oth­er than to say the roll-out of the vac­cines will be­gin to­mor­row, Au­gust 19th, at the Bish­op’s High School and Spey­side High School, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Vac­ci­na­tion of stu­dents will con­tin­ue on the fol­low­ing day (Fri­day) at the Sig­nal Hill Sec­ondary School and the Pen­te­costal Light and Life Foun­da­tion High School, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The Di­vi­sion’s re­lease not­ed that stu­dents at the Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary School, the Har­mon School of SDA and Good­wood Sec­ondary School will re­ceive their vac­ci­na­tions on Mon­day, Au­gust 23rd.

Mean­while, the vac­ci­na­tion pro­gram for chil­dren be­tween 12 and 18 years is be­ing rolled out at sev­er­al lo­ca­tions through­out Trinidad, to­day.
