Three days after a 30-year-old Arouca man was arrested for the murder of toddler Jereem George, the suspect took his own life.
Police reported that the man, identified as Anderson “Beadsman” Gittens, died by suicide at the Malabar Police Station yesterday evening.
Gittens was held on Tuesday and was assisting police with their investigations.
Little Jereem was asleep at his mother’s Christian Avenue Extension, Windy Hill, Arouca home last Thursday night when his home was set ablaze.
Jereem’s mother, Geneiel George, and her 14-year-old son tried to rescue the toddler, but could not reach him because of the intensity of the flames.
