The South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) says that both the Urology and Anaesthetics departments are resourced to perform alternate procedures, which have not impacted the delivery of excellent patient care. The following is a press release from the South West Regional Health Authority:

The executive management of the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) is gravely concerned that an internal communique, which neither reflects the successful contingencies implemented, nor management’s efforts to resolved internal processes, has been leaked externally.

This breach in confidentiality has therefore led the Authority to review its security procedures to prohibit future occurrences. Further to the media reports reflecting same, the Authority assures that both the Urology and Anaesthetics departments are resourced to perform alternate procedures, which have not impacted the delivery of excellent patient care.

Alternatively, the Authority continues to assiduously work with undertaking repairs and replacement to required equipment, as well as to diligently procure that which is in diminutive supply.

Additionally, while our surgical management system continues to roster our valued patients for elective urological surgeries and several have been scheduled as early as mid-2021, all emergency cases are prioritised and completed, with due care and diligence.

Finally, the SWRHA wishes to reassure our valued clients and members of the national community that the Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other key partners are actively addressing any systematic shortages. The SWRHA continues to invite our valued patients and clients to contact our Customer Care Centre at 87-SWRHA (877-9742), for any matter in relations to healthcare.
